I recently started modding. I use MCreator (Yeah, I know, I cheat a bit, but hey, I cannot code). The mod is actually coming along rather well, and the only things that don't work are the GUI names. I mean, what is the deal. As such, everything in the mod has a name like "tile.core.name" or "tab.celestial.name" but otherwise it actually works quite well. Most of the textures (including the one above) were handmade.

The mod is in development, and the download will be coming soon, but here are some things you can do with it right now.

-Explore the Cave Dimension

-Mine Onyx and craft it into Onyx Blocks or the powerful Onyx Armor

-Get some Rock (texture is cool)

-Slay the Starlord (currently impossible in survival)

-Construct the Ancient Core and watch the pretty particles

-Craft a Moon Sword and work your way up through the three Celestial Blades

HOW TO

...Get to Cave Dimension: Nether portal style frame of Moss Stone. Light with Quartz & Diamond: Flint and steel in center with diamond on left and quartz on right (items, not blocks). Enjoy the Cave Dimension. Warning: The chunks may hate you.

...Craft an Ancient Core: Emerald Block in middle, Onyx Gem on sides, Ender Pearl on corners. They do nothing so far but are epic decoration.

...Craft Onyx Armor: Like normal armor, but with onyx.

...Craft the Moon Sword (and other Celestial Swords): Ok, this is hard.

Moon Sword: Nether Star in center. Stick bottom left. Iron Sword top right. Iron Ingots top left and bottom right.

Sun Sword: Moon Sword in center. Gold Sword top right. Blaze Rod bottom left. End Stone top left and bottom right.

The Star Sword (aka Death-To-Mobs): Ancient Core center. Diamond Sword bottom left. Sun Sword top right. Prepare for smiting.

There are achievements for crafting these, but you must have "Time to Strike" first.

...Summon the Starlord: Use the spawn egg. There is currently no other way. He is a boss.

...Get rock: 1. Go to Caveor. 2. Lots of rock for player.
